At present, the commonly used plastic tubes in cosmetic packaging mainly include ABL tubes, PBL tubes and PE co-extruded tubes, which can meet the various needs of cosmetic packaging, such as hygiene, barrier properties, etc.

  ABL tubes is a kind of packaging container made of aluminum foil and plastic film through a co-extrusion composite process, and then processed into a tube by a special pipe-making machine. Its typical structure is PE/PE+EAA/AL/PE +EAA/PE. Aluminum-plastic composite hoses are mainly used for packaging cosmetics that require high hygiene and barrier properties. The barrier layer is generally aluminum foil, and its barrier properties depend on the pinhole of the aluminum foil. With the continuous improvement of technology, the thickness of the aluminum foil barrier layer in the ABL tube has been reduced from the traditional 40μm to 12μm, or even 9μm, which greatly saves resources.

The aluminum-plastic composite hose has the following advantages during use.

 (1) Barrier properties such as water resistance, on the one hand, can prevent foreign substances from intruding into the cosmetics and prevent the cosmetics from oxidizing and deteriorating. At the same time, they can prevent the moisture or fragrances in the cosmetics from diffusing to the outside through the hose, thereby ensuring the quality of the cosmetics.

 (2) Low cost. To achieve the same barrier performance, ABL tubes use less materials, lower cost and better economy than PBL tubes and PE co-extruded tubes

PBL Tubes

 PBL tubes are all plastic components, and are divided into two types: all-plastic non-barrier composite hose and all-plastic barrier composite hose. The all-plastic non-barrier composite tube is generally used for the packaging of low-grade and fast-consuming cosmetics; PBL tube is usually used for the packaging of medium and low-grade cosmetics due to the side seams in the tube. The barrier layer can contain EVOH, PVDC, and oxide coatings. Multi-layer composite materials such as PET. The typical structure of PBL tube is PE/PE/EVOH/PE/PE.

 The advantages of PBL tube are as follows.

 (1) Environmental protection. Compared with ABL tube, PBL tubes use economical and easy-to-recycle all-plastic sheets, which can reduce the environmental pollution of packaging waste. The recycled all-plastic composite tubes can be produced after reprocessing Relatively low-end products.

 (2) Diversified colors. According to the characteristics of cosmetics and different consumer needs, PBL tube can be made into different colors, such as colorless and transparent, color transparent, color opaque, etc., which brings strong visual enjoyment to consumers. In particular, the transparent all-plastic composite hose can clearly see the color status of the contents, giving a strong visual impact, and greatly promoting consumers' desire to buy.

In other words, the all-plastic composite hose has better resilience, ensuring that the hose can quickly return to its original shape after squeezing the cosmetics, and always maintain a beautiful and regular appearance. This is very important for cosmetic packaging

PE co-extruded tubes


PE co-extrusion tubes use co-extrusion technology to co-extrude different properties and types of raw materials together and form them at once. Plastic co-extrusion tubes are divided into single-layer extrusion hoses and multi-layer co-extrusion tubes. The former is mainly used for fast-consuming cosmetics (such as hand cream, etc.) that require high appearance and low actual performance requirements. Packaging, the latter is mainly used for the packaging of high-end cosmetics.

The main advantages of plastic coextrusion hoses are as follows.

(1) Since there is no side seal, the appearance effect is better than that of composite hose, which is necessary for high-end cosmetic tubes packaging.

(2) According to the different extrusion die, it can produce various shapes of extrusion hoses, such as oval, square, etc., to meet the needs of different consumers

Analysis of the disadvantages of various plastic tubes


The three plastic tubes for cosmetic packaging mentioned above have their own shortcomings.

(1) Due to the use of aluminum foil, ABL tube has many disadvantages, such as invisible content, poor environmental protection, poor resilience, lower composite strength than PBL tube, and easy delamination.

(2) The barrier properties of PBL tubes mainly depend on the type and thickness of the barrier layer material. Taking the PBL tubes with EVOH as the barrier layer material as an example, to achieve the same barrier properties and stiffness, its cost It is about 20%~30% higher than ABL tubes. For a long period of time in the future, this will become the main factor restricting the replacement of ABL tubes by all-plastic composite hoses.

Generally, the tube is made before printing. For the printing process, the efficiency is low, the process is complicated, and the difficulty is large.
